About Darren Jelley

Psychotherapist

Since an early age I have been fascinated in what it is to be a Human being, how we relate to each other, What makes us unique with our individual thoughts and feelings. I believe human potential, and our capacity to grow and change.

Our unique history is a representation of who we are in the present. Sometimes in life’s journey, we may encounter painful and complex emotions, and can struggle to call on our own resources to cope with these issues. I explore how to get to know and understand your experience and processes.

I am a Psychotherapist practicing in Kensington London. I also run a virtual practice alongside my Kensington Practice. I have provided Psychotherapeutic Counselling for the NHS in Earls field London, and various Charity organizations such as HELP Counselling. My Philosophy Awareness

Awareness is the conscious recognition of our thoughts, emotions, sensations, and surroundings. It involves paying attention to the present moment with a sense of curiosity and without judgment. This heightened state of consciousness allows us to observe our internal experiences and external environment more clearly, fostering a deeper understanding of ourselves and our interactions with the world.

Why is Awareness Important?

For example. If we are not aware of the the fire, How can we be moved to action And put it out?

Awareness is the foundation of self-improvement.By recognizing our habits, patterns, and areas for growth, we can make conscious efforts to develop and change in ways that align with our true selves.

My Methods

Person - Centered

The goal is to enable clients to achieve greater self-awareness and self-acceptance, empowering them to find their own solutions to their problems. P.C emphasises the therapist-client relationship as the central element in the healing process.

The approach is based on the belief that every individual has the capacity for personal growth and self-healing. Within the therapeutic relationship, the therapist provides a non-judgmental, empathetic, and supportive environment, allowing clients to explore their thoughts and feelings freely.

Focuses on the interactions, or "transactions," between individuals. The theory identifies three ego states: Parent, Adult, and Child, which represent different parts of our personality.

Gestalt therapy

Focuses on the present moment, encouraging clients to experience their feelings and thoughts directly rather than discussing them abstractly. The core principle of Gestalt therapy is awareness—helping clients become more aware of their emotions, behaviors, and perceptions in the here and now.

Techniques often include role-playing, the empty chair exercise, and guided fantasies to help clients process unresolved issues and integrate different aspects of their personality.

The goal is to foster self-awareness, and personal growth.

Financial manager

It is safe to say that working with Darren since January 2021 has been one of the most enriching and transformative therapeutic processes, I have ever engaged in.

At the height of COVID lockdown, many of my self-sabotaging behaviours and tendencies had become acutely pronounced and had begun to lead to feelings of depression, anxiety and aggressivity towards those closest to me. While ADHD was not the initial impetus to my reaching out for support, as Darren guided me to unravel multiple obstacles and challenges, his experience with and expertise in recognising and supporting those with ADHD eventually guided me towards recognising and formally diagnosing ADHD in myself. This massive discovery at the age of 42 has not only helped me understand my history, my tendencies, my super strengths as well as how to respond to challenges, but it has literally changed my life. Darren's support has been critical in helping me gain self-awareness, compassion for myself, confidence in making choices, an ability to course-correct and tap into the joy inside me.

He is a compassionate listener and radically candid therapist. His style is honest, sincere, and empowering. I am truly grateful for and have benefited from his support.

Darren provided a safe place and very relevant advice from our very first session and within a very short space of time, I felt that he understood deeply why I was struggling with day to day life.

Darren is a true professional who hears my concerns, supports me when I am low and teaches me how to navigate when I don't think I am able.

As a result, the overall quality of my life experience has improved an infinite amount.

It is with experience and gratitude that I write this, although no words really do justice to how much Darren has helped me.
